Ingredients
Filling:
4cupsapples - peeled, cored, & sliced
cupapple juice
1tspcinnamon
tspnutmeg
1tbspcornstarch
cupsugar
Crust:
3cupsflour
1cupsugar
1tspbaking powder
tspcloves
1cupbutter or margarine, softened
Directions
  1. In saucepan, combine apples, apple juice, cinnamon and nutmeg. Cook over medium heat until boiling, stirring occasionally. Combine cornstarch and 1/2 cup sugar and stir into apple mixture; stir until thickened. Remove from heat.
  2. In large bowl, combine flour, 1 cup sugar, baking powder and cloves. Add margarine and eggs. Beat on low speed until blended and crumbly.
  3. Press 3.5 cups of crumb mixture into greased 9x13 pan. Spread apple mixture evenly over crust and sprinkle with remaining crumbs. Bake at 375F for 25-30 min or until golden brown. Cool and cut into squares.
