Simple Homemade Hot Cocoa Mix<< Back to list

2cupsconfectioners' sugar (powdered sugar)
1cupunsweetened cocoa powder, plus 2 Tbsp (dutch-process preferred)
Directions Mix together the sugar, cocoa, and salt. To use, put 3 Tbsp of the cocoa mixture in a mug, add 1 cup SCALDED milk, and stir until dissolved.
  • Store in an airtight container for up to 6 months.

    Use the best cocoa powder you can - it'll make a difference.

    This recipe can easily be adapted to your tastes: add some vanilla after heating it up, stir in some cinnamon or nutmeg or a pinch of cayenne pepper, add a dollop of whip cream or a handful of marshmallows, etc.
